LG Lake Day

The first weekend in August, we had our first (maybe annual?) LG lake day. LG stands for life group, a.k.a. Sunday school, for those not down with the modern day church lingo. It's okay. I still call it Sunday school and I still use the term "big church" too. Back to the point. During the first 3+ years after we joined our amazing church, TFBC, people were after us to serve. In the children's ministry, college ministry, high school ministry etc etc. This is a good thing, but we weren't ready and, honestly, didn't feel called...yet. We prayed about it, and about exactly one year ago we began teaching a LG with these sweet friends. (Side note: check out their quarter catastrophe post for comic relief). In the past year, God has used this experience to grow us greatly. It's been a complete blessing to have this group to share our hearts with, not to mention a humbling journey, studying and bringing God's word forth each week as rightly as we are able. If you're involved in a church, are "comfortable" there, but aren't serving, then you need to be. There's no way to sugar coat it. Church isn't about us, it's about "them," and we need to realize this daily, die to ourselves, and get about the business of serving. End rant. Back to the lake day....we had a great time with great weather! Mostly pictured are children..they were cuter than the adults.

Waiting patiently for Mr. Dan to come back with his boat.  That, or fighting fires.

The kids loving playing in the red clay sand on the "lake beach."
Adorable victim of the "quarter catastrophe" mentioned above.

 Love those baby blues.
I'm not sure how many kids are represented in our class, but there's a lot, and mostly boys, Lord help us.  This isn't near all of them.
The day was cool and overcast, which was perfect for us!  Better than being scorched.

The guys tried to play volleyball, and the kids were such a "help."
 A great, but tiring, day!

And, I couldn't end this post without thanking Dan and Marsha for allowing us to use your boat and pulling all those crazy kids on "Big Mable" all day.  And, to my parents, for keeping Georgia Grace so we could enjoy a day with our boys.  Thank you so much!
